In 2008, my family and I took a leap of faith, packed our bags, and left New York City. When I told stories of the adventures and challenges that defined our experiences, people said, “You should write a book!”

So I did.

By 2018, I had already written several hundred essays for my blog, Wine and Cheese (Doodles). The most popular pieces were always the ones that detailed the ups and downs of our lives as expats, and the ways that living outside of your comfort zone affects everything from how you parent to how you shop for food. Although my original plan was simply to compile blog pieces, I wrote several new essays as well. What I ended with was a collection that spanned a decade’s worth of experiences and observations of a life on the outside looking in.

There’s Some Place Like Home is an inside look at the sometimes crazy, often lonely, but never boring life on the move.
